Meat new friends - S01 E02 - Studio photographies – Barone

10 daysStarted on 11.06.2020

We took shots of the butcher's staff at different stages of their work, both in their laboratory and live while they were at work, in contact with customers. We have tried to capture all their professionalism and passion for what they put into what they do, every day.

Looking at the client’s previous photographic kit, we realized that it was totally lacking in personal shots, which could have discouraged a potential client. We summoned the client to our studio, with his usual tools and work clothes. We set up a set with dark backgrounds, to bring out the vivid colors of their uniforms and create portraits that convey seriousness, professionalism and love for their work.

Now we come to the use of light. We used artificial lights, a definitely preferred solution for indoor portraits, both studio and set. For the types of subjects we used different diffusers to soften the shadows produced, including softboxes, beauty dishes and umbrellas, naturally adapting them according to needs.

Artificial light in photography allows for a more targeted and programmed use of light. To start, we used continuous light which is not very powerful, but combined with the use of a bright lens, it did its job. We then moved on to flash shots.
